ECOgent ‘s Patent Pending Formulation allows ECOgent to be used for most carpet cleaning applications. The cleaning of carpets has traditionally been limited to the use of cleaners designed specifically for carpets. Common general-purpose cleaners leave a residue in carpets, which promotes rapid carpet re-soiling. Most carpet cleaners incorporate additives that cause the detergent residue to dry to a non-oily powder to help prevent carpet re-soiling. Unfortunately carpets tend to loose their soft feel and appear to soil faster after cleaning. The common belief that once you clean your carpet it will have to be cleaned more often due to soil adhesion may well be true. Carpets present unique challenges. Stains and soil appearance on the surface of carpets likely represents the tip of the iceberg. The majority of the soil is beneath the surface of the carpet. After cleaning, stains sometimes reappear on the surface a result of wicking action that occurs as carpets dry. ECOgent has been proven not to promote carpet re-soiling. Carpets continue to feel very soft after cleaning because ECOgent does not leave a powdery or encrusting type of residue. ECOgent helps to prevent stains from reappearing on surface of carpets because ECOgent is slightly acidic. This closely matches the pH of carpets, which minimizes the wicking action. ECOgent’s excellent ability to lower surface tension on carpet fibres allows for effective and thorough cleaning and stain removal. ECOgent does not contain any phosphates or NTA which are traditionally used in carpet cleaners. ECOgent contains less than 0.05% Volatile Organic Compounds and therefore does not contribute to the problem of contaminating indoor air from carpet cleaning—a problem that can linger for many hours after carpets are cleaned the conventional way. ECOgent was designed to be used by and around individuals with chemical sensitivities.
