The Unique Benefits of Using ECOgent

Floor Care Maintenance

ECOgent’s patent pending formulation offers specific benefits in the care and maintenance of institutional and consumer floor coverings.

Floors, especially ones not maintained with modern acrylic floor polishes, have presented maintenance staff and building managers with unique challenges.

The routine in most floor cleaning operations is to dilute cleaner and wash the floor with a mop and bucket or automated equipment. Floors usually do not get a rinse with clear water; therefore detergent residues remain on the cleaned surfaces. On floors such as ceramic tiles, the grout lines tend to become discoloured as accumulated soil and diluted cleaning solutions accumulate, eventually becoming visually discoloured.

Prefinished vinyl floors can become dull and unattractive. Much of the persistent problems are associated with accumulated soils and detergent residues.

Many suppliers have developed specialty floor cleaners sometimes referred to as neutral cleaners, relating to the specific pH of the cleaner. The thinking is if you remove the builders such as phosphates, NTA, or soda ash etc., you decrease the amount of surface dulling. Formulations usually replace builders with chelating agents such as EDTA to improve hard water tolerance and to remove salt and calcium deposits in winter months.

ECOgent differs from neutral floor cleaners in two specific ways.

  • ECOgent contains no EDTA as this compound persists in the environment and is not permitted in any ECP 33 Certified General Purpose Cleaners. ECOgent contains a small amount of naturally occurring lactic acid neutralized to a pH near that of skin This allows ECOgent to effectively clean in very hard water and to dissolve salt and calcium deposits; a critical requirement for cleaning floors in different parts of the country.
  • ECOgent’s unique combination of 100% all natural ingredients are patent pending for the specific reason that ECOgent offers unique properties not currently available in cleaning products. ECOgent leaves a transparent film on surfaces after cleaning, this serves as barrier between floor surface and soils deposited on floors and the residue is readily removed with every cleaning. The soils deposited on floors are easier to remove, floors have a more attractive appearance and you never get a detergent build-up on floors.

ECOgent does not contribute to the problem of polluting indoor air. ECOgent emits less than 0.05% Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC).

ECOgent has been designed to be used by and around individuals with asthma and other chemical sensitivities. ECOgent is made from 100% all natural ingredients from renewable resources and does not contain added preservatives or pesticides.

ECOgent has proven to degrade under all environmental conditions with whole formulation-based testing under aerobic and anaerobic conditions and to be non-toxic to aquatic life at levels likely to enter the environment.

ECOgent ‘s claims, ingredients, manufacturing process and quality control have been independently audited and certified by Environment Canada’s Environmental Choice Program. ECP33 Certified 100% All Natural.
